At the heart of Adult Ministries, we are called to go and make disciples. In 2 Timothy 2:1-2 the Apostle Paul says, “You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is Christ Jesus. And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others.” So, in all the initiatives and gatherings that make up our Adult Ministry, it is our hope and intention to lovingly make disciples of adults who will in turn be disciple-makers for Christ. Then all our events, whether for equipping, serving or just fellowship and fun… will be useful for multiplying God’s kingdom as we love one another and build each other up in Christ.
Spiritual mentoring is essentially a relationship between two to four believers and the Holy Spirit where, through the already present action of God, we can discover the answers to the questions about: Who God is, who we are, what God desires to do through our lives.
One of the core values that we hold at SHBC is ‘Relationships Matter’. Throughout scripture, we see the importance of healthy, God-honouring, redemptive relationships between people and with God. One of the best ways we see the body of Christ cultivating those kinds of significant relationships is through meeting together in groups. But life groups are more than just about finding good people to spend some time with …
Men
Every Tuesday 8-10 AM
Humpty’s Restaurant 5011-130 Ave
Breaking bread is an ancient biblical tradition used to describe taking communion together, but it also refers to sharing a meaningful connection over a meal. It’s so easy to get isolated as a man these days, especially in our retirement when we are no longer interacting with people at work. Every Tuesday a group of 8 -15 men of retirement age meet to eat, pray, fellowship and share from God’s word together. ROMEO is an open group that meets every Tuesday from 8-10 AM at Humpy’s Restaurant located at 5011-130 Ave. Contact the SHBC office for more information.
Monday 7:00-9:00 pm (except long weekends)
Through Men of Steele, we desire to see men in the community seek intentional relationships with one another and with God; building together steps towards an extraordinary life with Christ. We are a fellowship of men that meets weekly to build relationships, strengthen our faith and experience church life through a variety of fun activities.
Women
Event Dates Vary
Our vision is to see women at Steele Heights connect with God and with each other to develop meaningful relationships that will lead to extraordinary lives in Christ. In Bible times, gathering at the well was a daily routine for women not only as a place to draw water but also to connect and support one another. Jesus met the woman at the well where He spoke of “living water” (John 4). As we “gather at the WELL” through various events, let us also draw from the One who truly satisfies.
