Darren grew up in northeast Edmonton and became a Christian at the age of 18. He attended SHBC for
seven years while completing his formal forestry education at NAIT and the University of Alberta. After
graduation, he worked in the forest industry for 12 years as a registered professional forester.
In 2001 he and his family moved back to Edmonton, and in 2004 he graduated with his Master of
Divinity from Taylor Seminary. He began at SHBC in 2004 as Pastor of Adult Ministries and answered
God’s call to serve as the Senior Pastor in June 2007. Darren completed his Doctor of Ministry from
Kairos University in 2023.
Darren and his wife Juanita are happily married and live in the McLeod/Steele Heights neighborhood.
They have been blessed with four adult children and one grandchild.
